For the fifth consecutive year, Invest Saint Lucia (ISL) will contribute EC $5000 to the National Community Foundation’s (NCF) education scholarship fund.
According to the NCF, education occupies a large chunk of its budget and at least 150 students benefit annually from the fund.
ISL’s contribution is consistent with the educational component of its community outreach programme. The annual donation is aimed at supplementing the NCF’s existing educational assistance fund that provides much needed financial support to students who have difficulty meeting the expenses associated with getting an education.
NCF’s Executive Director Michelle Phillips, remains optimistic that its EC $200,000 target will be met despite the economic challenges facing the corporate community.
“We understand that we are operating in a slow economy and persons are watching their spending, but we still have to continue with the work because there are some people who don’t have the reach we do and we still have to put out our hands to help them. Of course, the sky is the limit. If we get more than $200,000 we will be smiling all the way to the bank, so please continue to pledge.”
ISL’s donation will be presented at the annual National Telethon which is the NCF’s biggest fund raising event. It will be aired live on the National Television Network (NTN), from 1 – 6 p.m. on Sunday May 28th 2017.
