The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Peter Lorde has pledged the support of the Ministry in the efforts of the newly established St. Lucia Information, Communications and Technology Association.
Mr. Lorde said Government was providing an enabling environment for the development of the ICT sector through an e-commerce policy which is being advanced. Mr. Lorde spoke at a general meeting of SLICTA on Saturday. Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary Mr. Titus Preville and the Manager of the St. Lucia Coalition of Services Industries Ms. Yvonne Agard.
In her address Ms. Agard urged the members of SLICTA to contribute positively to the organization and to ensure its longevity as previous attempts had not been successful.
In his address the President of SLICTA Mr. Albert Daniels outlined the achievements of the new executive which he said had met five times over the past few months and had attended critical ICT meetings in the Dominican Republic and St. Vincent. He said a number of sub-committees had been formed to advance the work of the organization.
