St. Lucia's Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King has announced that the 2009/2010 national Budget Presentation will take place later than usual, but well within the 'constitutional timeline.'
Speaking to the Government Information Service (GIS) Mr. King said the date was pushed back by the West Indies-England One Day International slated for April 3, 2009 and the following week by the Summit of the Americas, so April 21 is the next available date.
The Prime Minister said St. Lucian workers should not expect new direct taxes for the next financial year. The Value Added Tax (VAT) is slated to be introduced by April of 2010.
