Six Local Groups For Jazz On The Pier 2009

Organizers of one of the more popular fringe activities under the banner of St. Lucia Jazz has announced plans to stage "Jazz on the Pier" for yet another year. The National Development Corporation says all is in place for putting on what will be one of the most exciting shows in the event's six year history.

Communications/Special Events Officer John Emmanuel says "The 2009 line-up, which has already been confirmed features an exciting blend of folk, upbeat, urban, classic contemporary and lively hard-hitting jazz mixes." 

Emmanuel says this year's line-up has grown from five to six groups namely Mamai Kewyol, Harmonites Steel Orchestra, Transfix, Rupert Lay Quartet, G-Strings featuring Harvey Miller & Monty Maxwell and the legendary Quavers.

Jazz on the Pier 2009 takes place on May 8^th from 2pm-6pm at Duty Free Pointe Seraphine under the banner "Come for the Shopping...Experience the Music." The event has consistently featured anywhere from 95 to 100 percent local talent.
